The fields that decide your purchase are kW or HP, voltage and connection (Δ or Y), and full-load current (A). Send us a clear photo of the nameplate and we will match the starter, relay and cable.
What each field means
| Field | Example | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| kW / HP | 5.5 kW / 7.5 HP | Output power; 1 HP = 0.746 kW |
| Voltage | 415 V Δ | Supply voltage and winding connection |
| Current (A) | 11 A | Full-load current: sets the relay or MPCB |
| Frequency | 50 Hz | Indian supply frequency |
| Speed (rpm) | 1440 | 1440 rpm = 4 pole, 2880 rpm = 2 pole, 960 rpm = 6 pole |
| cos φ | 0.85 | Power factor at full load |
| Efficiency class | IE2 / IE3 | Higher IE number = more efficient |
| Duty | S1 | S1 means continuous running |
| Insulation class | F | Temperature rating of the windings |
| IP rating | IP55 | Protection against dust and water |
| Frame | 132M | Mounting size, for replacement |
The connection decides the starter
If the nameplate says 415 V Δ (often written Δ 415 V / Y 690 V) and the motor has six terminals, it can be started star-delta. If it says 415 V Y, it runs in star and is started DOL or with a soft starter. Small motors are usually 415 V Y with three terminals.
From nameplate to products
- Overload relay or MPCB: a range that includes the full-load current.
- Contactor: AC-3 rating above the full-load current.
- Cable: sized for the current and the length.
- Starter type: DOL or star-delta from the HP and the connection.

Need help choosing?
Send us the rating, the load or a photo of the nameplate on WhatsApp, and we will confirm the right model, availability and rate.
Values are typical guidance for Indian 230 V single-phase and 415 V three-phase supplies. Always follow the equipment nameplate, the manufacturer's instructions and your licensed electrician, who is responsible for the final selection and installation.
